General Manager, Operations

The General Manager, Operations will play a critical role in turning the client business around by ensuring maximum engagement for the fleet of vessels as well as developing and over-hauling the Oil and Gas business. This position requires someone with strong marine charter and operations experience.

Job Descriptions

Reports to MD/CEO

Key Performance Indicators/Performance Targets & Tracking Sources

Business drive for group operations.
Represent the company at various community activities and act as lead “client-care officer” through direct contact with clients, partners and investors– Full compliance.
Meet and network regularly with business leaders in the industry for business contacts to achieve and surpass sales, profitability, cash flow and business goals and objectives- Total compliance.
Set, drive and deliver profitability targets to increase the company’s productivity/revenue generating activities and create business development initiatives which drive new products and marketing initiatives for the company – 100% compliance.

Effective management of the budgeted finance for business development to ensure effective financial planning and budget management mitigate identified risks- Full compliance
Strategic Planning and policy management for the group.
To participate in short and long term strategic planning for sales and business expansion ensuring new products and initiatives have proper business planning and projections –Total compliance.

Market survey & Communications for the group

Act as an intelligent client for the gathering of intelligent information from business competitors – 100% compliance.
Analyze market and competition and identify external threats and opportunities- Full compliance.
Ensure the development and implementation of a clear marketing and PR strategy and plan aimed at realizing the strategic business development objectives both nationally and internationally – Full compliance.
Project planning and coordination.

Work with management to develop projects plans and objectives and review project plans and proposals- Full compliance.

Bidding and contract administration.

Interpret contract bids and follow up to ensure contract is won- Total compliance.
Review contractor bids and advice management- Total compliance.
Report generation.
Report business progress against set goals including identifying risks, mitigating factors and potential opportunities for future business expansion- Monthly.

Experience

o Minimum of 15 years experience in similar operations.
o Thorough experience in tendering and contracting for charter vessels.
o Strong negotiating skills.
o Experience in management of Jetties will be an added advantage.
o Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills.
o High level of integrity, tact and a deep respect for confidentiality.
